It also introduces the key organs and tissues eligible for donation and outlines the organ donation and transplantation process in Oman. Additionally, the activity explores Islamic perspectives on organ donation to support culturally sensitive clinical practice.

“When Revelation Meets Science: Women’s Reproductive Health in Light of Islamic Teachings and Modern Medicine”- College of Nursing
In recent years, academic attention has increased toward exploring the relationship between faith-based perspectives and scientific advancement. Islamic teachings include numerous principles related to women’s reproductive health, maternal care, infant well-being, and preventive health practices, many of which were established more than fourteen centuries ago. Contemporary medical research has identified notable parallels between these teachings and current scientific knowledge. This educational session aims to provide university students with an evidence-based, academically grounded discussion on how Islamic guidance in areas such as breastfeeding, postpartum care, reproductive ethics, and maternal health aligns with modern medical standards and global health recommendations. The session seeks to promote critical thinking, intellectual engagement, and a deeper appreciation of interdisciplinary dialogue between faith and science within an academic setting.

Masooma Al-Balushi is currently a faculty member of the Tourism Department (College of Arts and Social Sciences - Sultan Qaboos University - Sultanate of Oman). Masooma has more than 15 years of experience in the field of Tourism and Hospitality, has published in the areas of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Human Resources Management, Cruise Industry, Tourist Experience Management, Training and Development, Entrepreneurship, Tourism and Hospitality Education, and Academic Accreditation. Masooma served as head of the Tourism Department for three years (2010-2013), During that period the Department undergraduate program was awarded the UNWTO.TedQual Academic Accreditation certification. Furthermore, she collaborated with the UNWTO as a national consultant for a national study conducted on Tourism human resources in the Sultanate of Oman. She has recently been granted an award for Achievement in Research and Scholarly Activities by Sultan Qaboos University Vice Chancellor during the 17th University Day Celebrations
